Sheraton Animal Wellness Fair

The Parsippany Area Chamber of Commerce and the Sheraton Parsippany teamed up on May 31 to sponsor the township’s inaugural Animal Wellness Fair.

Chamber volunteers and the Sheraton, a pet-friendly hotel, hosted the Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter and St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center, two area nonprofits dedicated to rescuing and caring for homeless animals and finding loving homes for adoptable cats and dogs. They also serve the citizens of Parsippany and neighboring towns by promoting spay/neuter programs and sponsoring pet education.

Funds and pet food were collected at the fair and donated to the shelters, which set up information booths to help inform the public of their missions. Some attendees came with their dogs, while local radio station WDHA-FM was represented by its mascot, Axl the Rock n Ruff Dog.

In addition to raising funds for the shelters and awareness of the need for pet adoptees, the Chamber helped to promote pet-focused businesses. The Morris Plains Community Animal Hospital also was in attendance, as was the Morris County Animal Response Team, part of the county Office of Emergency Management.

“The Parsippany Area Chamber of Commerce works with our businesses and residents, but is equally passionate about the adoption of our loving pets said Robert J. Peluso,”president of Parsippany Area Visitor Center.

The shelters continue to seek assistance from the community in the form of monetary donations or pet food and other supplies.
